At Umoja International Bible College, we affirm the historic Christian faith as revealed in the Holy Scriptures and centered on the Lord Jesus Christ. Our teaching, ministry, and leadership formation are grounded in the Bible and guided by the essential truths of the Gospel.
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living. It is trustworthy, true, and sufficient for teaching, correction, instruction, and spiritual growth.
2. The One True God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of heaven and earth, holy, sovereign, all-powerful, all-knowing, and worthy of all worship, honor, and obedience.
3. The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed mighty works, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come again in power and glory.
4. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, active in creation, conviction, regeneration, sanctification, and empowerment for Christian life and service. He indwells every believer, gives spiritual gifts according to God’s will, and enables the Church to live in holiness and witness faithfully to the world.
5. Humanity
We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God and therefore possess inherent dignity and value. Yet because of sin, humanity has fallen from fellowship with God and is in need of salvation. All people are sinners by nature and by choice and cannot save themselves apart from God’s grace.
6. Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Through His death and resurrection, Christ accomplished redemption for sinners. Those who repent and trust in Him are forgiven, declared righteous before God, adopted into His family, and given eternal life.
7. The Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers from every nation, tribe, and language. The Church is called to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, serve others, and live in unity, holiness, and love under the lordship of Christ.
8. Christian Life and Ministry
We believe that believers are called to a life of holiness, love, integrity, humility, prayer, service, and faithful obedience to God’s Word. Christian leaders and ministers should model godly character, sound doctrine, servant leadership, and commitment to the mission of Christ.
9. The Ordinances
We believe that the Church is called to observe believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper as sacred practices instituted by Christ. These ordinances testify to the believer’s faith, the saving work of Christ, and the unity of the body of Christ.
10. The Return of Christ and Final Judgment
We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly. There will be a resurrection of the dead, final judgment, and the full establishment of God’s eternal kingdom. Those who belong to Christ will enjoy everlasting life in His presence, and God will bring all things to their rightful fulfillment.
11. Our Commitment
As a Christian institution of higher learning, Umoja International Bible College is committed to Christ-centered, Bible-based, and mission-oriented theological education. We welcome students from various Protestant and evangelical backgrounds who affirm the authority of Scripture and desire to grow in faith, character, leadership, and practical ministry.
